Cold Cave-Death Comes Close

Cold Cave is Wes from American Nightmare's solo indie synth project. Think Joy divsion(one could say that Cold Cave basically picked up where they left off.) This album is only a small display of Cold Cave's talent because it is only 4 songs but these 4 songs are my favorite. This album will make you want to dance at some points and cry at others. It is incredibly emotional, intelligent and heartfelt. Check it out!

Full of Hell-Roots of Earth are Consuming My Home

This album is on the heavier side of the alternative music spectrum and it is definitely not meant for all ears. Full of Hell is one of my favorite bands going right now and this album is one of the best things to come out of 2011.  5 seconds in your mind begins to warp due to the crushing guitar and vocal effects used. This goes on for about a minute and then you are assaulted by heavy, fast and inhuman riffs and vocals that i'm pretty sure would make a new born cry. Anyway check this album out.

RZL DZL-Strictly Saucers

RZL DZL(razzle dazzle) are a hardcore band from the motor city! I don't know a whole lot about them besides the fact that their awesome! Basically if you took the Beastie Boys and Righteous Jams and fused them both you'd have RZL DZL. This album's main focuses are partying, space travel and FOODS THAT ARE ROUND! Seriously the song Strictly saucers is all about foods that are round!(pizza, donuts, waffles ect.) and how the band loves said foods. Anyway if your looking for a good light hear ted hardcore band that lacks seriousness check this band out!

ps
The guitar riffs absolutely rule! and yes the vinyl is a pizza

American Nightmare(Give Up The Ghost)-Background Music

Hardcore is not very mainstream but god is it important and one of the most important hardcore releases is this little banger by Boston heavy weights American Nightmare. AN was one of the first hardcore bands to talk about love and break ups in their lyrics rather than traditional hardcore topics such as staying true and not being like everyone else, however they did not sacrifice heaviness. In fact this is one of the heaviest albums to come out of the early 2000's hardcore scene! Anyway there isn't a whole lot to say about this album and I suggest that you check it out and form your own opions on it. While your doing that I suggest you check out vocalist Wes Eisold's other projects Some Girls and Cold Cave as well. Both are very interesting.

For Science-Tomorrow's Just Another Day

Break ups. We've all had to deal with them and they almost always suck. Personally when i'm going through one I look into music for some comfort and one album I almost always listen to religiously during low points is New Jersey's very own For Science. For Science is no longer a band unfortunately and their break is actually pretty funny. Apparently one of the members had an acid freak out and decided to wander the country. Anyway Tomorrows Just Another Day pretty much covers the entire spectrum and stages to breaking up. Depression, Fighting and Disappointment are all extensively covered in this album which can bring the listener alot of relief when they themselves are going through a rough patch. Anyway if your ever down check out this album!

Black Sabbath-Paranoid/Master of Reality

One word to describe Black Sabbath is EVIL. It is no secret that during the late 60's early 70's this band was the most evil group in popular music. Paranoid proves this point. The album kicks off with war pigs, a protest to  the Vietnam war that attacks the subject in a different way by predicting the end of the world due to the war. The next song and probably the most evil song on the album is electric funeral. This song takes the listener through a journey of the world after nuclear war. The album does have some lighter points however, fairies wear boots is a humorous look into psychedelic drugs and the hallucinations that they cause. In conclusion if it weren't for paranoid modern heavy metal would not exist! death metal in particular probably would not even be a genre if it wasn't for this album paving the trail for more controversial lyrics which death metal bands today thrive on.

Master of Reality is allot different than paranoid lyrically, but it made a bigger impact in my opinion. This album single handily created "stoner metal" and "doom metal". The songs are long and revolve around strong guitar riffs. Something that the band started in paranoid but did not perfect until this album. The first song on this banger is sweet leaf, one of the bands most popular songs. The next song worth bringing up is into the void. It closes the album and is epic. From start to finish this song is just plain cool!

Anyway, I love Black Sabbath and I see them as being responsible for so many things in hard rock and sometimes I don't feel like they get the credit they truly deserve, but anyway check out both these albums. You wont be disappointed!

Black Flag-Damged

To properly explain why I like this album so much i'd have to take a walk down memory lane and visit my 14 year old self. Back then I had just started getting into punk rock. At that point I was mostly into street punk and what I like to call Joke Punk(The Vandals,NOFX ect.) but I hadn't really listened to any 1980's American Hardcore until I bought Damaged. As soon as I heard the first track my mind was blown. It was fast, aggressive and in your face, characteristics that any young punker looks for in music. The rest of the album is just as fast and the longer you listen to it the deeper the subject manner of the songs gets. For example police story is all about being harassed by the police something that periodically happened to me throughout my teenage years. Depression is not only about feeling down and out but also feeling trapped, Something I still feel like even today. TV party on the other hand has a very light hearted message which is being bored with your friends and watching TV. Instrumentally the album is amazing, but that's the thing about Black Flag they had their own unique sound. To finish I recommend that if you haven't listened to this album you stop being lazy and buy it or download it.

songs to listen to:
depression,police story,tv party,rise above
